Our Journey

We’ve been on an amazing journey at Sussex Dolphin Project over the last few years, evolving from a team of committed volunteers, focused on convincing the people of Sussex that dolphins are out there, to a respected research-based project partnering with the leaders in marine conservation to protect not just Sussex Dolphins, but the wider marine environment.

Today, we have all the ingredients in place to transform Sussex Dolphin Project into a unique organisation tackling global issues on a local stage, protecting an iconic species with the help of an engaged and passionate community of supporters.

We are looking for the right partners to collaborate with through the next year and beyond.

Commercial partners

We’re grateful to our ever-growing network of commercial supporters, who have pledged to donate a percentage of their sales revenue to help fund our work.

Shoreham Port

Shoreham Port’s heritage can be traced back to 1760 and over the last 260 years things have changed and developed considerably. Commercial cargoes range from timber, steel, oil, grain and aggregates and the port is a popular destination for commercial fishing vessels. The port’s marinas are home to many local leisure users and its thriving commercial property portfolio has enabled over 150 small and medium sized businesses to join the Port’s community.

As a Trust Port, Shoreham Port operates at the heart of the community and its driving force is always to shape and maintain the area for the benefit of all stakeholders.

The Port has been awarded EcoPort status for 7 years running and will continue to assess the environmental impact to protect the community for generations to come.

Harbour Hounds

Practical and nautically stylish products for dogs. Inspired by the fun and beauty of coastal living. Harbour Hounds has everything you and your four-pawed pal need for a great day out at the beach or on the water, or simply for life in general.

t’s really important to us that we do our bit to ensure our brand does not have a negative impact on our environment, especially the sea. So, we have made a pledge to start the way we wish to go on by using as little plastic as possible in our products and packaging. We search for alternative options and recycle wherever we can.

We manufacture our products in the UK and Europe, keeping emissions low. However, we are not experts in this field, so any suggestions on how we can do better will always be welcomed and much appreciated.

Mintie Lunchboxes

Mintie Lunchboxes, run by Environmental Life, are a series of products, including stainless steel lunchboxes, that encourages people to live a lifestyle which reduces the need for single-use plastic. Since their launch in 2017, their products are now sold through various online retailers and zero waste stockists throughout the UK. As part of their support, customers can make a 25p donation to us, and Mintie Lunchboxes will match this for every purchase via their website.

“Environmental Life and the Mintie brand help people make kinder choices to the environment by reducing waste and the use of plastic. By choosing to use a stainless steel lunchbox and water bottle we can make small changes which add up to the big differences that impact our precious world.

We are passionate about what we do and are lucky enough to live by the sea which gives us a unique opportunity to be in touch with the ocean but also experience first hand the dangers and negative effect plastic is having on our coastlines and marine life. We are delighted to be supporting the Brighton Dolphin Project in their work and believe they are a vital source of education, support and positive action for our oceans”.
